Tetawkin Wholecut in Black Patent and Suede

A wholecut is made from a single cut of leather, which is why it carries so little stitching. The Tetawkin is that shoe, and it is often called the most formal one a man can own.

Black patent covers the upper with dark brown suede alongside it, and closed channel lacing keeps the front tidy. Underneath sits a plain red leather sole. The shoe is built on the Zurigo last, rounded at the toe for the traditional English look. Every pair is handmade.

Sleek is the point here. There is almost nothing on the surface to catch the eye, so the shape has to carry the shoe on its own, which is why this is an evening pair first and everything else second. The red sole is the one joke it allows itself.
