Battus Single Monk in Nailhead and Black Grain

Almost everything on the Battus is black. The nailhead is the one place the surface breaks, and it does so at a scale you have to be close to notice.

Nailhead sartorial shares the upper with black painted full grain, cloth beside a leather that has texture of its own. Black calf leather lines the inside and a plain black leather sole runs underneath. It sits on the Monti last, whose slightly square toe gives the shoe a firmer outline. Every pair is handmade.

A single strap meeting a buckle is the whole mechanism, and monkstraps have become popular because that is both comfortable and quietly noticeable. This is the most formal version of it. Wear it where a plain black shoe is required and you would rather do a little better than required.
