The Aias is entirely soft: red kid suede and black kid suede, with two straps crossing both and nothing smooth anywhere on the upper.
Red calf leather lines the inside, which keeps the red running through the shoe rather than sitting only on its surface. The sole is leather with buttons rubber injections set into it for grip. It is built on the Monti last, finishing in a slightly square toe. Every pair is handmade, so small variations between pairs are normal.
The double monk is the modern reading of a classic, elegant shape, and doing it entirely in nap is a further step in the same direction. This is an evening shoe more than a working one. Dark trousers, and let the red do what it wants.
