The derby has its quarters sewn on top of the vamp, which is what gives it an open lacing system, and the T Hardy runs a cognac crust patina over the whole of it.
That patina is the only material on the upper, so the colour moves across the shoe rather than sitting flat on it. Brown calf leather lines the inside and the sole is plain cognac leather. It is built on the Zurigo last, rounded at the toe for the traditional English look. Every pair is handmade, and the patina makes each one genuinely different from the last.
