GI Double Monk in Brown Camo Anticatura Patina

The upper of the GI is a brown camo patina made by hand, and the technique behind it has a name: Anticatura, the Italian word for antique finishing.

It is a hand dyeing procedure of leather, a specialty of Italian and French maestro shoemakers, and it takes about 8-10 hours of work per pair. What comes back from the antique finisher is a completely unique patina with an aged effect, which is why no two of these shoes carry the same surface. Two straps cross that upper. Black calf leather lines the inside, and the sole is leather with mountain rubber injections worked into it for grip. It sits on the Monti last, whose slightly square toe gives the shoe classic elegance rather than fashion.

The double monk is the modern reading of a classic, elegant shape, and this is the version where the shoe genuinely becomes a piece of work rather than a product. Every pair is handmade and every finish is its own. Wear it with plain dark trousers, because nothing else in the outfit will be doing this much.
