Cognac from the buckle down, the Alo keeps its single strap, its upper and its sole in one colour and lets the shape do the rest.
Box calf makes up the whole upper, smooth enough that the strap and buckle are the only interruption in it. The sole is plain cognac leather, matched to the leather above it. The shoe is built on the Zurigo last, rounded at the toe in the traditional English manner. It is handmade.
A single monk is a staple because it is comfortable and because it gets noticed without asking to be. In one unbroken colour it becomes the quieter version of that, closer to a plain dress shoe than a strapped one until you look twice. Brown or grey trousers; save the black for another pair.
