The derby's quarters are sewn on top of the vamp, which gives it an open lacing system and a wider opening than an oxford has. The 5980 is that shoe in plain black.
The upper is black luxe calf leather throughout. Tan calf leather lines the inside and the sole is dark red leather, the one place the shoe keeps a colour. It is built on the Zurigo last, rounded at the toe for the traditional English look. Every pair is handmade, so small differences between one pair and the next are normal.
